Outreach with St. Anne’s
Naomi’s Village
2021 Mission Trip
August 2021 - Mission Trip: Townsend McNitt, Julie Peterson, Grace Lucas, and Lori Marchant spent a week at Naomi’s Village, which included time with Nicholas and Hellen. While visiting, we were able to accompany the Naomi’s Village social workers for home outreach visits to their respective parents. Nicholas lives alone with his father Daniel who is legally blind. His mother is deceased. Hellen’s mother Joyce is married with five children, including Hellen and younger sister Lucy who both attend Cornerstone. Both of their parents were visibly moved by the gift of St. Anne’s sponsorship of their children.
While visiting the children at Cornerstone they read aloud the encouraging letters we shared with them from our church family. We gave each of them a compact 4x6 photo book to store photos and notes sent to them from our faith community. We were very impressed with their fluid reading, comprehension, and spoken language skills. Each photo book included a group photo of the parishioners who gathered to pray for them last May. Both children were so happy to meet us, for our encouragement, anticipated communication with our church, and our prayers. They understand what it means to have sponsorship support and are delighted to have St. Anne’s sponsor them. They looked very happy and healthy, and without a doubt they are Biblically informed, spiritually integrated, and progressing socially and academically.
Both the children and their families send their greetings to the church. They expressed deep gratitude that God has blessed us and that we have shared our blessings with them. It truly was a joy to meet Nicholas and Hellen and see them flourishing at Cornerstone! Contact one of us to learn more about our trip or how to engage with our Naomi’s Village partnership!
