St. Anne’s Episcopal Church Ash Wednesday Service with music by Bach and Albinoni

For Immediate Release: February 15, 2025
Join us for a special Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 7:30 PM at historic St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, where the Bach+ Consort will present two deeply moving pieces as part of the evening Ash Wednesday service. The service will feature two iconic pieces: Johann Sebastian Bach’s Tilge, Höchster, meine Sünden (BWV 1083) and Tomaso Albinoni’s timeless Adagio.
The Tilge, Höchster motet, which is Bach’s setting of Psalm 51, is known for its lyrical beauty and emotional depth. The prelude for the service will be Albinoni’s Adagio, famous for its hauntingly slow and expressive melody.
Performers:

Bach+ Consort, conducted by J. Ernest Green
Soloists: Lindsay Espinosa and Laurie Hays
Organist: Larry Molinaro

Plan to arrive about 10 minutes prior to the service to hear the prelude.

This special evening offers an opportunity for quiet reflection and spiritual renewal as we begin the Lenten season. The combination of Bach's intricate counterpoint and Albinoni’s timeless elegance promises to create a unique and moving musical experience.

Date and Time:
Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 7:30 PM
