Join St. Anne’s Adult Forum: Scholars on Scripture for 3 consecutive Sundays in March to dig deeper into the Gospel of John during this season of Lent.
On March 10, 17, and 24 at 11:30 am, The Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles will discuss this Gospel and highlight the Farewell Discourse as we move toward Holy Week, emphasizing chapters 12-13, the Passion and the Resurrection. She will be presenting via Zoom in the church’s Parish Hall, 199 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis, MD.
Living Abundantly: The Gospel of John
The Rev. Clark-Soles writes, “In John 10:10, Jesus declares: "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." What could he mean? What does an abundant life look like? How might one find it or be found by it? The Gospel of John provides ample clues. It beckons us to "come and see" and invites us to experience the poetry of the created order around us and within us. So come (re)discover the richness of this Gospel whose uniqueness and layers of mystery continue to grip its readers and whose unanticipated surprises delight at every turn!”
Week Three: "My Peace I Give to You" (John 14:27)
In this class, moving into Holy Week, we will explore some themes found in the Farewell Discourse (John 14-17) and point toward some distinctive elements of John's telling of the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus. Notice the themes of Peace (John 14), Love (John 15), Grief and Joy (16), and finally, the call to show the Love of Christ in action (John 21). Jesus ministers to their (and our) REAL emotions and concerns and also pulls them into their future story with God. How does this relate to your own life right now and that of your church community? - The Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles
