Friends of Clay Street
Since 2000, St. Anne’s has had a presence in, and friendship with the Clay Street Community and the Stanton Center which is built first and foremost on prayer and relationships. We participate in a homework club and provide Christmas gifts for over 100 children.
Homework Club/Get Smart Club at the Stanton Community Center
From September through June, members of St. Anne’s, St. Phillips, and the greater Annapolis community will arrive at the Stanton Community Center’s Get Smart Club Monday through Thursday to assist children mainly from Annapolis Elementary with their homework.
In addition to homework members will read with the children, help them memorize math facts, and teach handwriting.
Most importantly, members will build relationships with the children to develop the total child beyond the focus of academics. These life skills are crucial for school and future success.
High school students who need community service hours and college students home on breaks are also welcome to volunteer their time.
There are many opportunities to share and model the foundations of God’s love.

Winter Gear for Kids
Generous parishioners provide new winter coats and boots to Annapolis Elementary School (AES) children through this ministry. AES’s staff identify the children in need. In late October, parishioners select a child, receive information on sizes, and shop. Each child also receives a book and math cards to assist parents in helping them build critical reading and math skills. In November, parishioners bring those gifts to a Sunday church service. Our team delivers the winter gear before the school’s Thanksgiving break – ahead of seriously cold weather!
Many of these children are our neighbors in the nearby Clay Street – Stanton Community Center neighborhood. Volunteers are needed to help parishioners select a child before and after Sunday services in late October and other team work in November. Contact Ann Carlson: agutzie@gmail.com.
