Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame inducts Class of 2024

The Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame (MSCHF) honored 25 seniors by inducting them into its Class of 2024 Hall of Fame on Oct. 17 at the Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville. Md.

MSCHF recognizes outstanding senior volunteers from across Maryland.

Among the 25 honorees was Martha Thorn, a St. Anne’s parishioner. The only honoree from Anne Arundel County, she was recognized for her volunteer work at St. Anne’s and the Annapolis Senior Activity Center. She has served as a volunteer receptionist in both places and has helped publicize their programs.

While she was cited for her volunteer work at St. Anne’s and the senior center, Thorn also takes pride in the volunteer work that she has done for the Annapolis Police Department and her Admiral Heights community. She has written articles for the police department and for her community. Her articles have appeared in the community newsletter, the Capital Gazette and in Patch.

MSCHF “seeks to immortalize” its honorees in a “Blue Book” which summarizes their volunteer service. Each honoree receives a copy of the book and a copy is placed in the archives at the Langsdale Library, University of Baltimore.
