Grants Committee Adult Forum: CHERA (Community Health and Education for Rural Africa)
In 2024, St. Anne's awarded a grant to CHERA (Community Health and Education for Rural Africa), which supports the Kasese Community Health and Education Foundation (KCHEF) located in Uganda. KCHEF used the grant funds to purchase a laundry machine. The organization noted that the laundry machine supports good sanitation and disinfection, which are both very important components of health care services. Clean linen is one of the modules for good sanitation and disinfection. KCHEF registers at least 2500 patients every year at the 3 service points where it uses the linen for surgery services, delivery services, and inpatient services. It was noted by the organization that regardless of the protective gears that the janitors have, there is a higher exposure to risk of infection if they do the manual washing of the linen. The laundry machine enhances the safety of its workers. The organization also used the grant funds to purchase a desktop computer. Parishioners Mike Creighton and Scott Gregory are involved with CHERA. For more information about the organization, contact Mike Creighton at mwcegc0990@aol.com.
The Grants Committee will host 2024 grant recipients Naomi's Village and St. Anne’s Partners in Mission Guatemala at an Adult Forum on Sunday, February 9, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the Parish House. All are welcome to attend.
