Partners in Mission in Guatemala
Spring is here! It is again time to share the latest from our sister villages in Chujulimul, Guatemala with you, the St. Anne’s family. These stories will lead up to Mother’s Day when we ask you to continue your generous donations, made in honor of a Mom special to you, and support the educational and health initiatives chosen by the villages.
There is always something going on in Chujulimul, and this past year is no exception! The villages are deep into a long-term drought and are taking action to find alternatives. Drought means poor quality drinking water – and dried up crops. So village leadership has asked for help to solve the water challenge – and we’ve said YES.
We are pleased to be supportive of this effort, in addition to the usual financial support that St. Anne’s provides for educational and medical initiatives. Several St. Anne’s volunteers, teens and adults, are involved in PIMIG efforts – making annual trips, developing budgets, working directly with the village Finance Committee, grant writing, and more - as well as partners in Colorado, led by Mary Hearding, a former St. Anne’s parishioner. The experiences are fantastic for our youth, providing insight and hands-on time with a world so different from ours.
So please stay tuned for news about the new Water Infrastructure Development Project! And you can get a jump start on making a tax-deductible donation by going to the St. Anne’s website and clicking on the DONATE button; scroll down to click on Donate using Realm and select in Partners in Mission in Guatemala. Simple! You can also, of course, mail a check to St. Anne’s.
