St. Anne’s Announces New Assistant Rector (Curate)

Friends in Christ,

It is with great joy, delight, and anticipation that I introduce to you The Rev. Alice Graham Grant, who will be joining us as our new Assistant Rector (Curate) effective November 15, 2024

Mother Alice comes to us with a wealth of experience, a deep love for the Episcopal Church, and a passion for expanding the reach of God's grace beyond the doors of the sanctuary. Alice+ is an energetic and lifelong Episcopalian, who leads with joy and a vision for growing the Church of the future.

She has most recently served as the Associate Rector for Youth and Children’s Formation at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cary, North Carolina. There, she officiated and preached at Sunday services and special liturgies, while also directing and overseeing all programming for young families, youth, children, and the preschool.  Before her time at St. Paul’s, Alice served at The Episcopal Church of The Advocate in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. During the challenging times of the pandemic, she provided pastoral care while also leading efforts to strengthen parish relationships with neighbors experiencing environmental racism.

She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Certificate in Anglican Studies along with her Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College in Studio Art.

The search committee consisting of Hutchey Doley and Dave Strang (Co-Chairs,) The Rt. Rev. Michael Creighton, The Rev. M. Dion Thompson, Tabitha Kidwell, Colin Pascal, Kevin Hays (Sr. Warden), Townsend McNitt (Jr. Warden), and Katie Creely (Registrar), unanimously recommended Mother Alice’s selection to this post. Her joy is effusive, and we are grateful that she and her family will be coming home to Annapolis. Alice’s enthusiasm, creative spirit, and dedication to fostering vibrant and inclusive church communities will be a tremendous blessing to St. Anne’s Parish.

I extend my profound gratitude to the Search Committee, Vestry, The Rev. Canon Kristin Krantz, Diocesan Transition Officer, and all of you for your prayers, support, and help. As you know, the role of Assistant Rector (in Church of England parlance, curate or priest charged with the care of souls) is intentionally term-limited as it gives the priest an opportunity to hone and mold skills serving alongside as a colleague in a church ministry team among different areas of ministry.  We are so blessed to have Mother Alice join us as we continue to Build, Engage, Evangelize, and Form disciples of Christ.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Mother Alice Graham Grant, her husband Benjamin, and their children Wendell and Calvin, as Alice+ begins her ministry with us.

Let us pray for her and the Graham Grant family as they make their way north.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Manoj

The Rev. Dr. Manoj Mathew Zacharia, Rector
