St. Anne's is hosting a lecture series, Scholars on Scripture: Interpretation and Application.
Our second speaker is Dr. Jennifer McNeel, a core faculty member at St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute. Her talk is entitled, “We are not “peddlers of God’s Word:” Learning to live the message of the cross. Dr. McNeel is speaking during the Adult Forum at Saint Anne’s Parish Hall on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 11:30 a.m.
In 2 Corinthians 2:17 Paul asserts that he and his coworkers aren’t “peddlers” of God’s word” in their ministry to the Corinthian community. McNeel will use that verse and others from 2 Corinthians “to explore what the message of the cross might mean for us and for the world today.”
McNeel grew up in Annapolis. A lifelong Lutheran, she holds a Master of Divinity from Gettysburg Seminary (now United Lutheran Seminary) and a Doctorate in the New Testament from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Va.
She teaches regularly at United Lutheran Seminary and has taught adult education classes and led retreats at many different congregations in Maryland and Virginia.
Attendance at Saint Anne’s Adult Forum is free and open to the public. The sessions are held at the church’s Parish Hall, 199 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis, Md.
